Compliance automation platforms have changed how companies get SOC 2 and ISO 27001. But choosing one has become its own project. Every vendor claims faster audits and more integrations, and price quotes vary a lot.
We're consultants and auditors, not a vendor. We've built and audited compliance programs that run on these platforms, so this comparison is based on what we see in real projects. We don't rank them, because the best choice really does depend on your situation.
Note: features and pricing change often. Always confirm current details with each vendor.
Vanta
Where it's strong:
- Very wide range of integrations, so it fits most cloud and SaaS stacks.
- Mature trust center feature for sharing your security posture with customers.
- Broad framework library beyond SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
- Large ecosystem: many auditors and consultants know it well.
What to watch:
- Usually at the higher end on price.
- Out-of-the-box tests and policy templates are generic. They need tailoring to your actual environment, or auditors will find gaps.
Often a good fit for: funded SaaS companies that want a widely recognised platform and plan to add frameworks over time.
Drata
Where it's strong:
- Strong continuous control monitoring and automated tests.
- Good flexibility for custom controls and mapping across frameworks.
- Popular with engineering-led teams.
What to watch:
- Pricing is in the same range as Vanta.
- Getting value from the customisation takes someone who understands both the tool and the framework.
Often a good fit for: technical teams that want detailed control over tests and plan to run several frameworks.
Sprinto
Where it's strong:
- Built in India and popular with Indian and startup SaaS companies.
- Often more affordable for smaller teams.
- Hands-on onboarding and support.
What to watch:
- Check integration coverage for your specific stack before you sign.
- Check depth of support for frameworks beyond SOC 2 and ISO 27001 if you'll need them later.
Often a good fit for: startups and smaller SaaS teams, especially in India, getting their first SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
Secureframe
Where it's strong:
- Broad framework coverage, including several US government and healthcare frameworks.
- Includes access to in-house compliance specialists.
- Solid automation for common cloud stacks.
What to watch:
- As with the others, check integration coverage and pricing for your exact scope.
Often a good fit for: companies with US federal or healthcare customers who expect to need more than one framework.

How to choose: questions to answer first
- Which frameworks do you need now, and in two years? SOC 2 only, or ISO 27001, HIPAA and HITRUST too?
- What's your stack? List your cloud, identity provider, HR system, code repository and ticketing tools, and check each vendor's integrations against it.
- Who will run it day to day? A tool with deep customisation needs someone with time and expertise.
- Which auditor will you use? Some auditors work more efficiently with certain platforms.
- What's your budget for year two? Renewal pricing and per-employee pricing can change the picture.
Mistakes we see with every platform
- Treating green dashboards as audit-ready. Automated tests check that settings exist, not that your process works. Auditors sample real records.
- Publishing template policies unchanged. Auditors notice policies that don't match how you actually work.
- Connecting every integration without scoping. Out-of-scope systems create noise and failing tests you don't need to fix.
- Buying the tool before defining scope. Decide what's in scope first, then configure the platform around it.
Do you need a consultant if you have a tool?
Not always. But a tool collects evidence; it doesn't design your controls, write policies that fit your business, or tell you how an auditor will read your setup. That's where most first-time programs struggle.
We help in three ways:
- Choosing a tool: we look at your scope, stack and budget and recommend the platform that fits, with no commission from any vendor.
- Setting it up properly: scoping, control mapping, policy tailoring and evidence that will stand up to the auditor.
- Fixing an existing setup: if your dashboard is green but your audit isn't going well, we find out why.
